The role
As Sous Chef at The Hive, you’ll work closely with the Head Chef to support the day‑to‑day operation of a busy kitchen, ensuring smooth service, motivated teams and consistently high food standards.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting the Head Chef in all aspects of kitchen management
- Leading the brigade during service and in the Head Chef’s absence
- Delivering high‑quality, well‑presented food in a high‑volume, family‑focused venue
- Training, mentoring and developing junior chefs
- Maintaining food safety, allergen compliance and Safer Food Better Business standards
- Supporting stock control, cost awareness and efficient kitchen organisation
- This role is ideal for a chef who wants genuine responsibility, development and a clear progression path.
About you
You will be:
- Experienced as a Sous Chef, Junior Sous or Senior Chef de Partie in a high‑volume or structured kitchen
- Strong all‑round knowledge across kitchen sections
- Calm, organised and confident running busy services
- Passionate about food quality, presentation and consistency
- A positive, hands‑on leader who supports and motivates their team
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
Salary & hours
- £40,000 per annum + tips
- 45 hours per week, full‑time
- Flexibility required to cover evenings and weekends
