Supervisor - SPAR Shop

Our Five Star Holiday Village in Wrea Green, Lancashire, is seeking a driven and organised SPAR Shop Supervisor to lead our dedicated retail team. 

We are looking for an experienced and self‑motivated Supervisor to support the day‑to‑day running of our busy retail environment. Working alongside—and in the absence of—the SPAR Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining high operational standards and helping achieve departmental objectives in line with the P&L. 
 
This role is ideal for someone with strong leadership skills, excellent communication, and a proactive, hands‑on attitude. A minimum of 3 years’ supervisory experience is essential, ideally within a retail setting. 
 
Please note: This is an active, fast‑paced role that requires the ability to carry out duties involving regular movement, lifting, and being on your feet for extended periods. 
 
 
The main duties of the role will be: 

  • Lead, mentor and train the team to deliver consistently excellent customer service. 
  • Support the Manager with staff development, including participating in appraisals and ongoing performance reviews. 
  • Motivate and inspire colleagues through positive and professional leadership. 
  • Organise and delegate daily duties to ensure smooth and efficient operation. 
  • Maintain stock levels, complete stock orders and support effective stock control. 
  • Handle cash, complete cashing‑up procedures and produce accurate reports. 
  • Ensure that all Company Health & Safety, and Food Safety objectives and standards are achieved and that any faults
  • are raised directly with the SPAR Manager or appropriate personnel. 
  • Ensure the shop and associated areas remain clean, safe and well presented at all times. 
  • Plan and manage the staff rota, ensuring adequate cover to meet business and staffing needs. 
  • Respond to changing operational demands, including covering absences and adjusting staffing levels as required.
  • Operate EPOS systems and EPOS back‑office functions to support stock, sales and reporting processes.

  • The ability to meet the physical demands of a hands‑on retail role, including standing for long periods, moving stock, and completing manual handling tasks.  

Availability
We have one permanent position available, with a minimum of 32 hours over 5 days in a department that operates 7 days per week. We’re flexible with hours and are happy to consider a full‑time 40‑hour contract for the right candidate. 
 
Full flexibility to work weekends, early mornings and evenings is essential to meet the needs of the business. 
 
Salary: 
£13.85 per hour.
