Spring

Posted on March 20th, 2013

Spring is definitely springing. Whilst we all may still need our wellies and walking boots for a jaunt outside, I  think its well worth doing. This time of year is one of my favorites. Birds are out singing and fighting for territories and we begin to see splashes of early colour through snowdrops, daffodils, heather and lesser calendine.  I thought I would share a few of the beautiful and wierd things you can see on ribby at this time of year.

I found this beauty behind the mini beast mansion. This strange Fungi is called the Jelly Ear Fungi. Named because of its ear like shape and flesh like texture.

In the buttercup family, Lesser Calendine is a small and easily overlooked plant. You can find it at the end of the nature trail.

Again im not sure what this fungi is. It can be found growing up the woodpecker tree.

You can find a carpet of snowdrops at the beginning of the nature trail. So for all you galanthrophiles (snowdrop lovers) come on down!

Daffodils always bring a smile to my face. Big, Yellow and Beautiful!

You can find these everywhere on site

I am definitely no Fungi expert, so im not sure what species we are looking at here (I do welcome people to tell me if they do know). I added this picture because I think Fungi are rather beautiful and amazing creatures. Without them we would struggle to exist.

A ladybird is finding shelter in the head of this spiky teasel

You will be able to see Collard Doves and wood pigeons all over Ribby at the moment. Hopefully they arnt cooing to loudly in the morning.

Taster Evening – Friday 1st March

Posted on March 14th, 2013

On Friday 1st March, the wedding department at Ribby Hall Village hosted their annual ‘A taste of your big day’ event in the Woodland Suite. Over 70 couples and their families attended the evening at the Lancashire Wedding Venue. The Woodland Suite was set with beautiful flower centre pieces by Flower Design, each table was dressed differently to give the couples ideas on how they could dress their wedding day. All wedding stationary was provided by Charlotte Designs, including a table plan, place cards & menu cards. They were all treated to delicious wedding canapés & cocktails on arrival, then served a three course ‘wedding breakfast style’ meal and entertained by the fabulous Paul Guard – Swing King! John Francis Photography were at hand to capture the wonderful moments of the evening and our talented chef’s appeared following the meal to answer any questions the couples had and to showcase additional dishes that they could choose for their wedding day.

The evening ended with music from resident DJ Kev and casino tables by SJ Enterprises. It was a fantastic evening and we are already looking forward to the next one in 2014, see below for pictures!

The Restaurant at Ribby Hall Village introduces its Monday night Chip Shop Tea.  The perfect solution for the beginning of the week when you don’t feel like cooking.  Excellent value fish and chips in stylish surroundings using the very best produce and all home-made.

Head chef Simon Ball has taken great pride in sourcing the very best premium local Haddock from Fleetwood for your Monday night tea.  He is coating the fish in his secret recipe, super crispy batter and serving it with his legendary triple cooked hand cut chips.  All the pies are homemade.  The sensational pickling trolley includes tomato ketchup, vinegar, red salt and big glass jars of home-pickled eggs and onions.  The pickling trolley will be brought to the table with your main course.

Bevan Middleton, Manager of The Restaurant at Ribby Hall Village says: “We’ve introduced the Chip Shop Tea as an affordable way to have an informal and relaxing supper on Monday evening when you least feel like cooking.  Everyone loves a chip shop tea and Simon’s promises to be one of the best – everything is home-made using the best ingredients.  At The Restaurant we like to take a well-loved simple meal and turn it into something special.  You should try our steak night on Wednesday too!”

RIBBY HALL VILLAGE BEGINS NEW YEAR WITH FURTHER RECRUITMENT DRIVE

Posted on February 4th, 2013

Ribby Hall Village is starting 2013 with yet another big recruitment drive.  The Holiday Village goes from strength to strength as it looks to fill eight positions– two on the Short Breaks & Holidays Team and six at The Spa Hotel.

The luxury adult-only Spa Hotel is looking to fill various full time positions, with several at management level.  These include:

-          Assistant Manager The Spa Hotel.  This position would suit someone from a background of 4* or above who is inspirational, driven and hungry to take on a new challenge.

-          A Duty Manager to assist the Spa Manager in the day-to-day running of the Spa which has a five-bubble rating from the Good Spa Guide.  The successful candidate will be committed to delivering the ultimate spa experience for guests whilst working closely to support and develop a large team of Beauty Therapists.

-          A Manager for the Michelin-recommended Brasserie at The Spa Hotel.  A talented and enthusiastic individual who is highly motivated and can continue to help The Brasserie exceed customer expectations.  Due to the level of service, management experience within a fine dining establishment is essential.

-          A Chef de Partie for the Brasserie with a minimum of two years experience to help to deliver this fine dining offering.

-          A Night Porter at the Spa Hotel with specific responsibility for the safety and security of The Spa Hotel.

Mark Partington, Operations Director comments:
Since opening The Spa Hotel only 18 months ago, we have invested heavily in recruitment and staff training and I believe the level of customer service we provide has helped the business achieve its goals and, most recently win The Spa Hotel a place in the coveted Michelin guide!

Our growth and progress continues with a further recruitment campaign for key personnel beginning this week.  We are looking for people with the personality to drive the business forward to the next level; our aim is to be at the top of our market throughout the UK and not just in Lancashire.”

Meanwhile, the Short Breaks and Holidays department requires a full-time Duty manager as well as a part-time receptionist/reservations assistant.

-          The Duty Manager’s role is to ensure the successful capture and follow through of all sales enquiries to the Short Breaks & Holidays team, working closely with the Manager to manage, motivate and inspire a team of over 25 staff.

-          The Reservations Assistant is a part time position which will suit a motivated and enthusiastic team player to join the busy Accommodation team.  Good skills in customer service, an excellent telephone manner and a pro-active sales approach are essential.

Paul Harrison, Chairman & Chief Executive at Ribby Hall Village says:

“This is a fantastic way to start 2013. Ribby Hall Village continues to go from strength to strength . We are constantly re-investing and improving our facilities but the real success story is our people.  Guests tell us time and time again about our friendly and professional staff and we never forget how important customer service is.’

The closing date for applications is 28th February 2013.
